Things I feel I should remember about this pregnancy.

1)Taking a pregnancy test alone was not a very good idea. Next time make sure Nick is actually aware that I am about to tell him if he is going to become a dad (again) or not.

2)During week 6-12, I swore to Nick and myself if we were to ever have a kid again, it would be through adoption. But somehow I got through it.

3)Seabands are not a worthless $10 purchase!!

4)Ginger cookies = NOT GOOD!

5)Support, Support, Support... and I'm not just taking about friends here.

6)Dealing with body image may just be the hardest part about this pregnancy. (Note to self: Do not get pregnant again without maintaining a healthy weight first.)

7)Eating every two hours is awesome!

8)It's ok to eat a whole box of Coco Krispies in one day as long as it doesn't happen again ;)

9)There is not a cereal on the market that this kid does not like.

10)Craigslist is a good option

Here is 10 things for now. I'm almost to my 3rd trimester!! I'm sure there will be other things I think about and things that come up that I will want to remember. But that's enough for now. :)

Busy Baby

So, the baby has been non-stop moving all day today. While eating lunch it got me like 3 times really good to the point I jumped all 3 times. It's not really a painful feeling but more of a tickle. One on hand I absolutely love feeling my child move and knowing that things are going well in mamma's tummy but on the other day, I often want to yell "PLEASE!!!! Just give me a few minutes!!"

I'm in the process of uploading some pictures of my time home in July... even though I took almost zero pictures, and also a picture of me today. Today was the first day I got ready, looked in the mirror and felt good about myself. I wasn't wearing some fancy maternity shirt, but just an old t-shirt and jeans. I felt like myself, but with a tiny belly carrying a tiny baby.

I guess it just goes to show you that spending an hour drying, straightening your hair, putting on makeup and picking out your cutest clothes still can't make you feel truly good about yourself. I liked the way I looked today, and felt comfortable, just normal in jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops ready to go see a movie with my studly husband ;)

Today was a fun day though. We all (Jake is here) slept in, and by the time we woke up and ate breakfast it was 11am. So we got into working mode, the boys took care of the outside and I spent almost 3 hours vacuuming the house. Whoever said men do all the manual labor in a marriage, has clearly not vacuumed an all tile house before! MY GOSH! I was sweating just as much, if not more than the boys that were working outside in 100 degree weather! Also, today I understood just why a woman's mind works so differently than a man's. The boy's were outside mowing grass and I was inside, putting laundry in the washer, switching it to the dryer, folding the dry clothes when they were done, making lunch (which had multiple steps), vacuuming the house, while cleaning and dusting and picking up random items and putting it in their place.... you get the point. Welcome to a woman's multitasking mind! I like it though, it keeps me moving and I like to come home after seeing a movie (Inception, which was really crazy but really good) and walking into a clean house! There is just something about it that feels so good!

Now onto uploading pictures of the Indiana trip onto Facebook :)

Dear Baby,

I feel like I should write my child a letter today... Here it goes!

Dear Baby,
Today mommy ate... ALOT. Well not a lot as in huge mass quantities, but a lot as in A LOT of one specific thing. For Breakfast I had a bowl of Coco Pebbles. About 2 hours later I had another. Then for lunch I had a turkey sandwich, and a peach. For snack I had some blue berries, some cherries and a pina colada yogurt. Later in the day I had another bowl of Coco Pebbles. For dinner I had this yummy pasta at Jason's Deli, and currently it's 11:43pm and I'm up eating Rice Chex because you are hungry and majorly kicking me (I got the message and now i'm working on it... RELAX!) What I have failed to mention to you thus far is that those 3 bowl of coco pebbles were really LARGE bowls. Mommy just may have consumed the whole entire box today... along with about a 1/2 gallon of milk. Don't think this is a good idea, because I can tell you right now, Coco Pebbles make you... lets just leave it at excited, although i'm pretty sure that is an understatement. So anyway, I'm writing you this letter to express my lack of parenting and greatly apologize for making my 1st of many greatly poor choices of parenting. (Even though I'm sure you will get just as wound up for our Glucose test we have schedule for monday.)

So to end, Baby, I very much enjoyed feeling you move around ALL DAY but promise (ok try) not to make the same mistake twice.

Love Love Love Love,
Mommy

PS. PLEASE STOP LAYING, SITTING, KICKING, PULLING... Basically just please stay away from my bladder :)

Good ol' hormones

I think I experienced my 1st real pregnancy hormone scenario.

Let me set the scene:
I'm at the gym walking on the treadmill feeling ridiculous like I always do because I don't even look pregnant yet I just walk on like 3.0 or 3.5 and just feel lazy, but know my body really can't handle anything higher at this stage. Anyway, I look over in the corner and there is this big grizzle bear of a guy, I'd say about 50 years old weighing in at about 450lbs. He is doing squats with a trainer and looks like he is about to pass out. The look on his face screams "I really want this, I just don't think I can do it." I look at him, and I just want to run over there give him a big hug and tell him he's doing a great job! We make eye contact, and I just start having tears roll down my face. He reminds me so much of my dad. Not only do i A) miss my dad a whole lot but B) worry about my dad that he is over weight and is hurting is heart.

So to end the story: Random guy at the gym... I think you are doing a wonderful job! Keep up the awesome work, not matter how hard it gets! You are getting stronger everyday, and DON"T GIVE UP!

Excited Random Thoughts

Many of you know I kept an online journal basically all the way from Middle school through my freshman year in college. That thing was my best friend. I wrote everything in that. It's still online and while I haven't gone back to look at it in a while I pray, frequently that someday when I go looking for it, it is still there. That's like 1/2 of my life!!

Anyway, if you ever kept up with my LiveJournal I would very frequently do RT's, or random thoughts. It would just be pages and pages of things I was thinking about at the time. I feel like tonight would be a good change to revisit though RT but in paragraph form with a little more detail than I used to use back then.

*20 week Ultrasound
I'm so excited for tomorrow. It's 10:30pm currently and normally I would have been in bed at least an hour ago, if not earlier. But I'm not tired tonight. I'm just so excited. Tomorrow is a big day for the Taube family. The babe get's measured, and measure and measured again. Toes and fingers get counted, spine gets alooked at and basically it's one big ultrasound day. It's suppose be our "20 week" but we cheated and we will be only at 19 tomorrow. No difference though, at least that's what they tell us. I'm just so excited to take a peek at baby!

*Sex
Nick and I have decided to keep the baby's sex a surprise. We have talked and talked about this, but this just feels right for the both of us. Neither of us have a preference ( I know you can't pick but some people lean heavily on wanting one or the other) and we just don't care. I think it will just be a special moment for all when text messages and phone calls can get sent with "It's a ____" along with a picture. I'm just very excited for that intimate 1st moment as a family. I rest my case... it is settled!

*Funiture
Nick and I bought grown up furniture on Sunday and it's being delivered tomorrow! I'm telling you, tomorrow is an exciting day. For those of you that don't know, we are currently sitting on a couch that was left in a house that I rented in college. It's black PLEATHER... That's right "Plastic Leather." It's awesome....ly AWFUL! Even though our "grown up furniture" isn't what some would call elegant, it's perfect for us and our casual selves. It's probably the biggest furniture I've seen, with the width being the size of a twin size bed... but that being said, will make perfect guest accommodations if anyone desires to choose that spot! I do look forward to the moments when watching a movie and I don't have to say "Can we just go lay in bed?" Especially when it's with another couple, because those moments are pretty awkward.haha! Along with living room furniture, I got to pick out a rocking chair for the Babe and I. I went with everything I hate. Leather and white! What was I thinking? Really!? I'll blame it on the hormones because I really don't know what I was thinking! BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT We got an absolutely amazing deal on it, and it's pretty darn comfy so hopefully the babe and I (and daddy sometimes) will get to spend some good quality time breaking in that chair!

*Pictures
Alot of you have been asking for me to post pictures. It's honest time. I'm not ready. My body is going through alot of changes... duh, cause that's what pregnancy is! But specially for me, I'm loosing weight and gaining baby weight and I'm not sure I'm feeling very comfortable with myself these days. I took pictures in the beginning but just kind of stopped. I don't like spending 10 mins to get 1 picture that I actually like of myself. And "like" is being exaggerated! Hopefully someday I'll start to feel more comfortable in my own skin and start taking pictures so I don't look back and regret it.

*Good buys.
The other day I got off work early and had an hour to kill while waiting to go to dinner with some friends. I spent that time at Ross, which is basically like a TJmaxx or someplace like that. WELL COME TO FIND OUT! They had a maternity section. I found a shirt and a pair of capris.. each for $8. I can't wait to wear my $16 dollar outfit tomorrow... that my friends I MIGHT have to take a picture of!!!

*Showering
Today I got a phone call. A totally unexpected phone call of one of my friends offering to throw me a baby shower. I am thrilled beyond belief and so ultimately grateful someone would want to do something like that for me, but it's so hard for me to except someone would want to celebrate...well, me! I'm not sure where this shyness came from after reminiscing about my highschool years and insisting I was the center of attention at all times... but I've changed, ALOT! And it sort of just makes me feel uncomfortable. My mom told me I'm not allowed to rob people of their joy of wanting to celebrate with me, and I guess she's right. I just need to make sure that everyone who participates knows just how much it means to me, and I have to focus on not being rude, because i'm shy.

*Baby Crib
Nick and I have yet to purchace a crib yet. We can't decide... ok just kidding! IIIII Can't decide. I just go back and forth. I think he should probably just order it that way I can stop thinking about it. This is the one we are looking at.

*I need to talk about someone other than baby
Along with the new furniture we should probably get a new t.v. Anyone want to donate one larger than a 24in??? haha

*I think that's it for the night
Now that I suddenly have lots off of my mind I feel like I could probably go to sleep right now. That and I'm still in a towel that I wrapped in after my bath. (IT brings back good college memories!) But to bed I go. To get up and clean and see baby, and sit on furniture, and get our house sprayed so we don't have bugs and ahhhhhh Life is good right now.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO And we found a new bible study to join! I'm SOOOO THRILLED! I CAN"T WAIT FOR SUNDAY! (ok, yes I can because that means the day after is Monday...) But i'm really excited to see how this goes. :) God is good, all the time, He is good! :)

GOODNIGHT

On the road

Many of u know I have a touch scene phone and hate it! I don't believe I will ever again get a touch screen phone unless its the only thing u can get.... Why am I writing this? Well... Currently I'm sitting in the passenger seat of my car traveling to Austin for the weekend. As cool as it is to be driving down the road on the internet I am less than thrilled with this ipads tough screen. Maybe its the cod in me but finger prints all over the screen really just drives me up the wall. I'm laughing as I write that last statement, in fact I'm laughing as I write this whole paragraph because I'm complaining about advanced technology and being privileged enough to have something most people don't. Sometimes I can be so selfish really. It's a quality I really Ned to work at..... This is not at all the direction I was hoping this post would go... Here to the start of a fresh paragraph!

Uh oh... I just saw we have 5 miles to buc-ees. If u don't know what that is, you really need to find out so you should probably get in the car aft looking up the closest one and taking a fun trip. Haha I make it sound like an amusement park.. Its def. Not that!

"Buy Used, Save the Diffrence"

If you know me at all, you know I have a strange obsession to the Duggar's. (The one's that have 19 kids.) It's something about their family that makes me want to jump through the TV and go live with them. I really think they are great parents and have raised wonderful kids! When I moved to Texas and didn't have anything to do but sit around all day, I started reading a lot. One book I read was the book that Mr. and Mrs. Duggar wrote. In this book were recipes, tips on raising children, and of course the secrets on how they have (now) 19 kids and are completely debt free. It just amazes me! Anyway, one of the things you will hear a lot on their show is "Buy Used, Save the Difference." I've been trying to adopt this principle with whatever I can, because really, do we all need new stuff all of the time? And what happens to the used stuff when people need to get rid of it. It goes to the dump, even though it's in perfectly good shape.

With the surprise of this baby, and not being in an ideal financial standing, I've really tried to think about the kinds of things that I can get used. As good as this concept sounds to me, in the back of my mind though, I struggle with wondering if I'm somehow cheating Baby... But yesterday changed all of that!!!

Friday Night Nick and I went in search of a sale USA baby was having. We looked at cribs and strollers and one particular travel system (car seat/stroller) caught our attention. It is the same car seat that the girl I nanny for uses. I just like the way it looks, the safety rating on it, and the ease of use. The price just seemed so high, so we looked at Babies R Us. We found the same travel system in a different color and just fell in love with it. We both agreed this is hands down what we want. We had decided not to purchase it that night, but go home and think about how we would pay for this.

The Stats:
*Travel System that includes Car Seat(+ base), and Stroller= $299.99
*Extra Car Seat Base for 2nd Car= $79.99
*Tax (.085)= $32.30
TOTAL= $412.28

Nick went to bed that night, and I stayed up for just a bit extra. I decided I would look on Craigslist... just by the mere chance someone was selling what we wanted.

SURE ENOUGH!! Some guy posted an entry just 3 hours before I looked, and he was in a good part of town!! I quickly emailed him, and told him we could come by the next day to look at it. He text me that morning to ask if we could come at 1... and when we got there, it was everything we had hoped for! It was in perfect condition, had only been used for 6 months, had never been in an accident, had no stains except for one of the strap guards... and was just awesome. We were sold!

Total Price of Used System + extra base= $160

MONEY SAVED: $252.28

We brought it home and I quickly launched into Mom Mode. I took all the fabric off and set up a washing station in the kitchen, scrubbing it all down. Straps included! I then threw everything in the washer and dryer and couldn't not be happy at the way it looks and smells. Today I put everything back on again, after wiping down every visible surface! Nick looked at me at one point and said "This is what we will be carrying the baby home from the hospital in." It was so cute, it made me want to cry!

So here we are, 6/7 months go to and already have a stroller and car seat! Here are some pictures!

This is after I took everything off.

Everything out of the dry, stain free and smelling wonderful

Clean and in Perfect Condition, Our Travel System for Baby J

IN OTHER NEWS!
Nick and I have agreed up names! Both the girl and Boy name start with the letter J. If and when we find out the baby's sex, we might announce the name as well. I dunno, we have a few weeks for that still.
